Our Story

From the Island's Heart to the World's Horizons

9 Years of Excellence Innovation Since Day One Community at the Core
2016

Where It All Began

Imagine a journey crafted with the precision of cutting-edge technology, the warmth of authentic Sri Lankan hospitality, and the depth of genuine community connection.

Born from the convergence of three extraordinary forces — internationally acclaimed programme creation, scientific excellence, and technological innovation — Suvesta Inbound Travel and Recreation (Pvt) Ltd emerged in 2016 with a singular mission: to redefine Sri Lankan travel by bridging the gap between modern convenience and deep-rooted cultural heritage.

Our founder, Sunil Somasiri, brings to Sri Lankan tourism something unprecedented: the creative mind of a nationally and internationally recognized programme creator, collaborating alongside BSc graduate Priyani Gamage who brings scientific rigor to every detail, and dynamic ICT professional Senusi Senaya. This powerful triumvirate transformed what could have been another conventional tour operator into one of Sri Lanka's most innovative and trusted travel partners.

The Journey

Our Milestones

Nine years of growth, resilience, and transformation

2016

Foundation & Vision

Suvesta Inbound Travel and Recreation (Pvt) Ltd is established in Piliyandala, Colombo by Sunil Somasiri, Priyani Gamage, and Senusi Senaya. The company launches with a bold mission: to redefine Sri Lankan inbound travel through technology, authenticity, and community.

2017–2018

Community Partnerships & Fleet Growth

Deep relationships with village communities across Sri Lanka are established. The private fleet expands and multilingual guide recruitment begins, targeting English, French, German, and Mandarin markets. The first 20+ village partnerships take shape.

2019

Heritage Conservation Partnership

Official collaboration with the Sri Lanka Heritage Conservation Project is formalised, anchoring Suvesta's sustainability credentials. The Australian and French markets gain significant traction as Suvesta's reputation for eco-conscious, culturally deep journeys grows internationally.

2019 Easter Crisis

Resilience in Adversity

The Easter Sunday attacks severely impact Sri Lankan tourism. Suvesta responds with transparent communication, guest support, and a swift pivot to demonstrate Sri Lanka's enduring warmth and safety — emerging with stronger local and international trust.

2020–2021

COVID-19 Pandemic Response

Global travel halts. Suvesta pivots to domestic tourism, launches virtual engagement content, implements enhanced health protocols, and introduces flexible booking policies. The period proves the resilience of the team and the depth of Suvesta's community bonds.

2022

Economic Crisis Navigation

Sri Lanka's economic crisis brings fuel shortages, power cuts, and currency devaluation. Suvesta absorbs cost increases to honour confirmed bookings, protects guests with alternative arrangements, and maintains its standard of operational excellence throughout the crisis.

2023–2024

Technology Leadership & Scale

Suvesta reaches 80+ monthly expeditions and 900+ international guests annually. The proprietary mobile app launches, island-wide real-time GPS tracking is deployed across the 30-vehicle fleet, and the Virtual Reality pre-travel platform enters beta — positioning Suvesta as a technology leader in Sri Lankan tourism.

2025 →

The Next Chapter

VR platform full launch, enhanced digital website, luxury river cruise development, team expansion to 40+ members, and a target of 100+ monthly expeditions. Suvesta's ambition is to become one of Sri Lanka's top 5 tour operators by quality and sustainability by 2030.
